How does An e-commerce website with downloadable products work?

EBook Download Website Based on WordPress and WooCommerce

First we go to the website from where we have to download the product.
In this case, this is a e-book download website created using WooCommerce and the free Astra Theme. We go to the category which we want to select the book from, then navigate to the product page where the ebook details are displayed.


  

As soon as the page is displayed with all the details we can go on top next to the product picture and click Add to cart. If you do not wish to purchase any other products, you can click on the button view cart or navigate to the checkout button on the menu at the top of the page. Clicking on View Cart button will display a Proceed to checkout button at the end of your cart display.

Once we click on check out, checkout page will be displayed on the left. Select your payment option and place order. Here in case you are opting for an online payment method like credit, debit card, internet banking or UPI you will have to complete the payment. You will then get the final checkout page. In this case, we have used an off-line payment method.
Now when an off-line payment method is used, administrator of the website has to make the necessary change on your order status once payment is received.   

As soon as the payment is received, Administrator will change your order to processing, and after that change to order completed in case of downloadable product. For an online payment, the order status is marked as processing automatically as soon as payment is successful.
If a physical product is sent, then the order is completed only when your order is dispatched. In this case, there is no dispatch required as it is an online download which is available as soon as the administrator marks the order as completed. The customer can then access his account and under downloads the e-book which has purchased will be shown, and then download the book.
